The essentials training equips learners with the understanding, application, and navigation of the three basic steps for self-regulation - setting up readiness (HOLD), balancing action-interaction (FLOW), and integrating experiences (SLOW). It enables you to create an organically structured environment and orient yourself in your work or sessions with kids.
- This essentials training aims to equip therapists, teachers, and caregivers with the skills and strategies to help children effectively re-ignite the natural self-regulatory processes after stressful experiences, daily tasks, and creative moments.
- The training uses a concise version of the HOLD FLOW SLOW™ framework. It will teach attendees how to map, put into action, and lead with these three parts of self-regulation to create an environment and a workflow that supports emotional inclusion and energetic coherence.
- Participants will leave with a set of solid tools to integrate these principles into their practice. It will allow them to facilitate processes that organize the rising and lowering the energy of the child when they engage in challenging situations. This will open an opportunity to match the children’s energy where they are at, make your actions more relevant to their world, and save energy in the process.
This training focuses on understanding the foundations and learning how to enrich and simplify your work with the HOLD FLOW SLOW framework. You will practice the new concepts with like-minded people, and applying the new skills in real-life situations.
After all, you will gain knowledge and confidence, and learn how to:
What is self-regulation, and what parameters are necessary to support children's development of this skill?
How do you attune to the nervous system to best approach situations moment-to-moment?
How does the human nervous system's universal response to tasks and challenges impact behavioral patterns?
What problematic behaviours cause hyperactivity or apathy in children and how can they be addressed to help the child pursue their goals or impulses?
How can one comprehend the effects of trauma on a child's self-regulation, acknowledge their pain without indifference, and support them without overpowering or overlooking their emotional and cognitive abilities?
How to adapt approaches to better suit a child's emotional state, promoting self-confidence and independence?
